Pre-Chrome-Web-Store install

Install Wittierly.

Until we're on the Chrome Web Store, install takes one minute in developer mode. Same extension, same auto-updates from us when you re-download.

Step 1 — Download the build

Download wittierly-latest.zip

    Unzip the file

    Double-click the downloaded wittierly-latest.zip to extract it. You'll get a folder named extension (or similar).

    Open Chrome extensions page

    In Chrome address bar, go to chrome://extensions/ (Edge users: edge://extensions/).

    Enable Developer Mode

    Toggle the "Developer mode" switch in the top-right corner of the extensions page.

    Load the unpacked folder

    Click Load unpacked (top-left) and select the unzipped folder. Wittierly should appear in your extensions list.

    Start using it on X

    Open x.com, scroll to any tweet, and click the ✨ next to the reply icon. First click registers you for a free 30 replies / month.

+Chrome shows me a warning about "Developer mode extensions". Is that safe?

That warning is Chrome being cautious about any extension installed outside the Web Store — it's shown for every dev-mode extension, not specifically Wittierly. We'll be on the Chrome Web Store soon (review takes 1-7 days); once approved you can remove the unpacked install and switch to the Store version, no data lost.
